Sync Disconnects During Enroute Flight

Should the Primary and Secondary iPads unintentionally disconnect, one or both of the iPads will flash a Sync Lost message. The Sync System will automatically attempt to reconnect. Upon reconnection, the Sync Lost message will dismiss, and the wait spinner will transition back to Synced Primary or Synced Secondary.

Progressive troubleshooting steps:

  1. Bring both the Primary and Secondary iPads using Scott Plot® to the iPad foreground
  2. Check that Wi-Fi is ON for both the Primary and Secondary iPads: iPad Settings > Wi-Fi > slide switch to on

Resync Manually

  1. Tap Cancel on the Sync Lost message and reconnect Sync manually
  2. Tap Previous Primary on the Primary iPad, or ensure the device selected for the Primary role is the one with the most current flight data
  3. Tap Previous Secondary on the Secondary iPad, and/or ensure the Secondary iPad is the one that will receive the most up-to-date information from the Primary
  4. Tap to Reconnect as Primary on the Primary iPad
  5. Tap to Reconnect as Secondary on the Secondary iPad
  6. Tap Connect under Available Devices

Scott Plot Sync — Available Devices list with Connect button
Scott Plot Sync — Available Devices list with Connect button
Note: Primary role data always overwrites Secondary role data upon initiating a sync connection; ensure the iPad with the selected Primary role is the device with the most up-to-date information.
Note: The Sync function is not operational if the Wi-Fi hotspot is enabled on any of the iPads attempting to sync together.

If up-to-date flight data was overwritten during the syncing process, see Restore Overwritten Flight Data in Logbook & Data Recovery.
