Start every flight setup in the Preflight Wizard by checking for and downloading the latest ARINC navigation database.
Toolbox Overview
The Red Toolbox menu holds Scott Plot's in-flight tools: route building, ETPs, distance and direction, calculators, wind correction, ARINC conversion, present-position direct-to contingency, and Dead Reckoning.
Direct-To
Execute a direct-to from the chart, the DIR TO button, the nav search box, or drag and drop — the original routing is preserved in gray on the Journey Logbook.
External GPS Devices
The iPad's internal GPS is not reliable enough for in-flight use — Scott Plot supports Bad Elf, Dual XGPS 160, Stratus 3, and Satcom Direct sources.
Available Weather
Scott Plot provides worldwide METAR and TAF information — on the chart, in airport information, on ETPs, and in the Preflight Wizard.
Complete Trip
Close out the flight to capture everything into a single Journey Logbook Master Document, uploaded automatically to your portal.
Split Screen View
Multitask on the iPad with Scott IPC's split-screen support — Split View for resizable side-by-side apps or Slide Over for a small floating window.

Route Edit Drawer
Edit the current route in flight from the chart tab — add or delete waypoints, record ATC-directed changes, and load an amended flight plan.
Preflight Planning for Sync
Prep both iPads for a synced trip: matching app versions, current navigation data, and a designated Primary role.
Troubleshooting the Dual XGPS 160
Steps to restore GPS input from the Dual XGPS 160 — restart the device, verify the Bluetooth connection, and reselect the source in the app.
Using METAR/TAF Data
METAR/TAF data defaults to ON and keeps updating with an internet connection — toggle it with the Weather Data button.
Reopen Past Flight Data
Scott Plot retains completed flight logbook data for up to 45 days so you can reopen a previous flight, add plotting information, and create an updated Journey Logbook.
Using Converters
The Conversions tool calculates jet fuel, climb rate, distance, wind speed, altimetry, temperature, and weight conversions.
ETPs by Lat/Long from Flight Plan
Edit already-constructed ETPs and add new ones by entering lat/long values from your flight plan, from the Red Toolbox menu.
Flight Department Admin Portal
Flight department administrators can manage pilot app access, crew documents, custom checklists, and department aircraft from the Scott IPC app portal.
Drag & Drop Route Editing
Move a portion of the route by press-and-hold with Snap To options — whole degree, half degree, waypoint, or free drag — with a magnifier for accuracy.
Sync Device Settings
The minimum iPad settings to connect the Sync System plus inflight best practices once connected.
Appareo Stratus 3 Connection
Connect Scott Plot to the Appareo Stratus 3 over its Wi-Fi network with Open ADS-B Mode enabled.
METAR Symbology

Restore Overwritten Flight Data
If current flight data is overwritten during a sync connection, restore the previous logbook data from the Sync System and re-sync with the correct roles.

Calculate New ETP
Have the app calculate an Equal Time Point from wind and true airspeed you enter, for use only when flight plan ETPs are unavailable.
Plot ETPs
Scott Plot reads your flight plan and plots Equal Time Points automatically, with manual editing and ETP alternate weather built in.
Chart Layers
Enable or disable plotting chart layers from the layers tab, and reset all layers to defaults.
Modify Using Route Builder
Build a route from your flight plan, enter one manually, or edit points along the way from the Build Route page in the Red Toolbox menu.
At the Aircraft
Connect the two plotting iPads at the aircraft: designate Primary and Secondary roles, connect, then attach each iPad to the onboard GPS source.
Troubleshooting the Stratus 3 Connection
ForeFlight mode on the Stratus 3 blocks other apps from receiving the GPS signal — disable it and re-enable Open ADS-B Mode.
Weather Display Duration
Weather keeps displaying after a connection loss and ages in place — color coding shows how old each METAR is.
Inflight Journey Logbook Data Corruption
The app backs up the active Journey Logbook during flight and prompts you onscreen to restore it if data corruption is detected.
Distance and Direction Tool
Measure the distance and course between any two points on the plotting chart.
Subscription Expiration
Scott Plot warns you within 30 days of an expiring subscription so there is no service disruption.
Select Oceanic Entry / Exit Points
Set or verify the oceanic entry and exit points on your route — required for oceanic flight reminders to work.

Close out the Journey Logbook from the Primary iPad after a synced flight — the Sync System disconnects as part of the closeout.
Troubleshooting Satcom Direct Connectivity
VPNs can block the SDR's local-network GPS feed, and GPS gaps show as amber breadcrumbs — plus Satcom Direct technical support contacts.
Wind Correction Stamp
Enter a wind drift correction value and direction, post it to the plotting chart, and delete the stamp when it no longer applies.
Journey Logbook Setup
Create a Journey Logbook in the Preflight Wizard — auto-populated from your pilot profile and flight plan, with ICAO Annex 6 signature support.
Position Report Form
Enter position reports from route waypoints or the POS Report Summary — auto-populated with aircraft ID, SELCAL, position, and time, and captured in the Journey Logbook.

GPS Failure
Scott Plot shows a GPS Fail icon after 30 seconds without a valid position, and Dead Reckoning mode can be activated from the failure popup.
