WHO THIS IS FOR
FIRST-TIME QUALIFICATION
Your crew is qualifying for CPDLC for the first time. They need the AC 90-117 pilot knowledge subjects covered top to bottom, FANS 1/A & ATN-B1, CPDLC, ADS-C, RCP & RSP Performance, message handling, and the operational procedures for airspace where Data Link is required.
ENTERING CPDLC AIRSPACE
Your operation is expanding into oceanic, NAT, or remote continental airspace where CPDLC is mandatory. Initial training establishes the foundation for ATC clearances, position reporting, and contingency procedures.
WHAT’S COVERED
We don’t run a watered-down version. Each module covers the AC 90-117 pilot-knowledge subjects in the depth required for a genuine working knowledge of CPDLC operations.
PERFORMANCE-BASED COMMS
Communication performance categories (RCP 240, RCP 400), CPDLC message elements, free text, standard pilot responses (Affirm, Negative, Roger, Wilco, Unable, Standby), and the FANS 1/A and ATN-B1 systems your aircraft uses.
PERFORMANCE-BASED SURVEILLANCE
Periodic, event, and demand contracts. ADS-C emergency procedures and triggers. Required Surveillance Performance (RSP 180, RSP 400) and how it integrates with reduced separation operations.
OPERATIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Required data for logon and notification. When to logon, where to logon, and what to do when logon fails. Crew resource management for CPDLC: independent verification, voice monitoring, and augmented crew handovers.
REDUCED SEPARATION
Requirements for FANS 1/A+, RNP 4, RCP 240, and RSP 180; the building blocks of 30 NM lateral and longitudinal separation. Monitoring and reporting program participation.
NON-NORMAL EVENTS
Failure of CPDLC connections, voice communication procedures beyond VHF, emergency operations, and the AFM, AFM supplement, and MEL deferable items that affect Data Link operations.
