Comprehensive Ramp Inspection Program implemented in Mexico

AFAC (Mexico's Civil Aviation Authority) implemented a comprehensive Ramp Inspection Program on December 16th, 2024, and will continue until January 15th, 2025. The primary concerns are to ensure compliance with operational security procedures and, in the process, protect all stakeholders involved in business aviation operations within Mexico.

According to Universal Aviation Mexico, this program will affect the following:

• International flights
• Domestic Operations
• Regular and non-regular flights
• Cargo operations
• Commercial aircraft

The required documents must be original for both the aircraft and crew. Copies will not work.

The following are documents that will need to be presented:

• Landing Permit
• Current aircraft registration certificate
• Airworthiness certificate (Note: For N-registered aircraft, AFAC will verify documentation against the FAA website)
• Crew licenses with appropriate ratings
• Current medical certificates
• Insurance policies (Mexican and worldwide) - PDF format on mobile devices acceptable
• Maintenance logbook
• Minimum Equipment List (MEL)
• Noise certificate
• Weight and balance sheet
• Radio certificate
• Flight Manual

Non-compliance may result in aircraft detention. Monetary sanctions could apply for incomplete or expired documentation. The officer on duty will make final decisions regarding penalties.

Take the time to review all documentation thoroughly before departure. Ensure all certificates and permits are current. Brief crew members about these requirements and allow extra time for potential inspections.
