For several months, users have occasionally reported that while watching a training module - they lose audio.  In-course volume controls and the iPad volume controls no longer seem to function.

Recently, we discovered the cause of this.  It is caused by one of several "Silence" features built into iOS.  The features can be turned on in many ways (automatic timers, for example). Absent a timer to turn them back off - can be turned off manually.

The first step is to pull down from the top-right corner of the screen to reveal the Control Center.  Older versions of iOS may need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Inside the control center, you'll need to identify which of the muting features are turned on.  It's muted because of either the Do Not Disturb setting, or the Silent Mode setting (or, possibly both at the same time).

These are the settings to turn OFF:

  • Do Not Disturb
  • Silent Mode

Once turned off, the course should be audible once again.
