This module provides the pilot with an overview of procedures regarding oceanic clearances in the North Atlantic. It covers the various means of obtaining your clearance to include voice and data link. This module presents the contents of clearances for both voice and data link to include when changes have been made, either from filed or amended by ATC. Procedures are discussed as to the proper procedures to mitigate errors in loading and verifying that the clearance is correctly loaded in the navigation system. As the procedures for obtaining clearances vary slightly between FIRs, highlights of each of the six NAT FIRs are presented.

Gander OCR Change: VHF Voice Clearances Before Oceanic Entry Point
Update to the previous Gander OCR Procedure update.
For Gander, the departure clearance will be the oceanic clearance unless it is modified by ATC. The aircraft shall NOT change the route unless ATC clears it for the route change.
Before an aircraft reaches its Oceanic Entry Point (OEP), Gander (CDQX) FIR Domestic ATC will issue oceanic route clearances and amendments via VHF voice communications instead of CPDLC loadable Route Clearance uplink messaging.
Other OCR procedures, including Oceanic flight planning, RCL submission requirements and timing, and CPDLC route conformance monitoring, will continue unchanged. Route changes issued to aircraft after passing the OEP will continue to be issued via CPDLC or HF communications.
For voice RCL requests or issues with an RCL rejection message, pilots should contact ATC on the assigned (current) control frequency.

You were right! Alex was full of energy and a really good instructor! He teaches from knowledge and experience, unlike the competition who just go read the PowerPoint presentations.
